A heat pipe is a hollow copper cylinder filled with a refrigerant.
1) Heat is absorbed in the evaporator section (A). The fluid boils, the hot vapor rises (B).
2) As the vapor reaches the condensing area of the cylinder (C), the heat is given off to the environment and the vapor condenses.
3) The liquid returns by gravity or capillary action through a “wick” (D). The cycle then repeats.

Heat Pipe Demonstration
The Heat Pipe is a device used to transfer sensible heat energy from one location to another utilizing the latent heat of vaporization of a liquid transfer media.
Carolina Heat Pipe has developed a simple controllable heat pipe system for the HVAC industry. From the beginning CHP has utilized a vertical tube thermosyphon heat pipe coil allowing for customizing the separation distance between heat pipe coils with a single valve for full modulating control. The flexibility also provides better access for preventative maintenance in the HVAC system.
A two-coil heat pipe system installed in series and around the cooling coil of an air conditioning system providing energy efficient enhanced dehumidification. The heat pipe transfers heat from the incoming air around the cooling coil and into the leaving air stream. more…
A two-coil heat pipe system installed side by side in opposing air streams such as exhaust and supply air for laboratory or hospitals. This Sensible Heat Recovery TRAHP™ provides passive heat energy transfer from one air stream to the other without risk of cross contamination. more…
A two-coil heat pipe system installed in opposing air streams such as exhaust and supply air for a laboratory or hospital, separated by several feet of distance. This Split System Heat Recovery TRAHP™ provides passive heat energy transfer from one air stream to the other without risk of cross contamination. more…
Controllable hot gas reheat solution to increase the dehumidification / latent cooling capacity of direct expansion air conditioning systems. Sensible heat provided by hot refrigerant gas, directly from the compressor, sent to a condensing coil downstream of the evaporator coil. May be combined with a Subcool reheat system. more…
Utilized for improved dehumidification in direct expansion straight cooling and heat pump air conditioning systems. Requires the addition of a custom condensing coil downstream of the evaporator coil to precool the liquid refrigerant ahead of the evaporator coil. Often combined with Controllable Hot Gas Reheat. more…
