Leadership Contribution at ASHRAE Winter Conference 2025

Darrell Sandlin, President of Carolina Heat Pipe, made his way to sunny Orlando, Florida, for the 2025 ASHRAE Winter Conference. This year’s event, held from February 8-12, was a milestone for Darrell, marking his 24th year as an ASHRAE member and Carolina Heat Pipe’s 30th year of ASHRAE membership.

A Dual Role of Responsibility and Emerging Technologies

Darrell is the program chair for Technical Committee 8.1, Mechanical and Desiccant Dehumidification Equipment, Heat Pipes and Components. Additionally, Darrell stepped into his new position as the 2024 Regional Membership Chair for Region IV this past summer. This role has allowed him to help with ASHRAE’s efforts to grow and strengthen its membership base in the Southeastern United States.

The conference featuured over 100 sessions across nine tracks, provided Darrell with ample opportunities to expand his knowledge in the commerical industry.

Networking and Collaboration

Between sessions, Darrell took advantage of the networking opportunities, reconnecting with long-time colleagues and forging new relationships. As the Regional Membership Chair, he made a point of engaging with younger members, sharing his experiences and encouraging their active participation in ASHRAE activities. The conference had once again reinforced the value of continuous learning and active participation in the HVAC&R community.

Darrell left Orlando ready to apply new insights to his work at CHP and to further ASHRAE’s mission in his region.
